L for Lincoln and Luxury
Lincoln has remained an American icon of unparalleled luxury since 1921. It is unapologetic of luxury and embraces elegance, proportion and a balance of exuberance and restraint. The first outsider to join the Ford family of brands, it initiated the company’s entry into the field of luxury cars. One of the famous custom-built cars was the 1922 Lincoln Town Car built for Henry Ford. It derived its name from its body styling which featured an open chauffeur’s compartment and enclosed passenger compartment. This elevated the vehicle from a mere transportation to a bona fide status symbol.
However, it was only when the Zephyr came out that the Lincoln truly became a financial success. It was streamlined and was one of the first to consider aerodynamics in design.
